Managing canine health

Canine herbs play a vital role in the day- to- day lifestyle for dogs. With many health problems arising, owners have increasing concerns for their dog and look for different ways to either prevent or treat the issues. An easy way for owners to relieve these concerns is by selecting specific herbs that are known to have many beneficial properties.

Yea- sacc

Yea- sacc (also known as Saccharomyces cerevisae 1026) is a live yeast probiotic that has been proven to help stabilise and promote normal digestive efficiency. Designed to be fed to dogs of all ages and activity levels, yea- sacc helps support nutrient digestion.

Boswellia Serrata

Boswellia serrata is a natural herb supplement derived from the gum resin of the Boswellia serrata tree. It's also known as frankincense and has been used by humans and animals as a source of joint relief for centuries. Due to it's high enzyme concentration, it makes an effective anti- inflammatory, which is ideal for dogs with arthritis or inflammation in their joints. The natural enzymes, acids and essential oils also aid post exercise recovery.

Brewer's Yeast

Brewer's yeast is a fungi culture that has been used in brewing practices since early mankind. Not only this, but it is also a natural source of B- group vitamins (which help to breakdown carbohydrates, fats and proteins)and has excellent amino acid profiles which all benefit canine health. Its main property is to maintain a healthy gut flora which helps to aid hind gut digestion. However, it also offers benefits towards animals prone to anxious behaviours, and promoting healthy skin, hair, eyes, and liver function.

Fenugreek seed powder

Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum- hraecum) is a versatile herb that is often used to help fussy feeders to gain a better appetite, it is also commonly used to help improve weight and condition supporting muscle function. The herb is also a great source of dietary fibre calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, iron, and vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and B9.

Garlic

Garlic holds a range of properties that benefit animals such as horses, dogs, poultry, and game. For canine supplementation garlic offers beneficial properties for boosting the immune system, enhancing liver function, and helping against inflammation issues in joints.

Turmeric 

Turmeric (Curcuma Longa) beholds naturally occurring qualities of turmeric making it an amazingly versatile and useful supplement to add to a dogs diet. It is commonly supplemented alongside black pepper to increase bioavailability to promote well- being and overall health. As well as this, turmeric holds a range of beneficial properties such as improving skin and coat health, anti- inflammatory, reducing skin irritation, promoting heart and liver health, and improving digestion.

Spirulina

Spirulina is a blue- green algae with a high nutritional value due to its wide range of essential nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals and proteins. With a protein content of approximately 65%, this biologically complete 'super food' provides all eight essential amino acids in their correct ratios for easy digestibility. Spirulina offers benefits to support immune function, animals prone to respiratory problems, skin and coat health, and contributing towards overall health in dogs.
