Bentonite Clay Powder

Bentonite Clay Powder

Bentonite clay, also known as montmorillonite, is a volcanic clay which originates from Fort Benton, Wyoming. The clay has absorbent swelling properties which make it a great additive in animal feed. Bentonite has long been used in animal feed to help bind mycotoxins in the gut, helping to prevent mycotoxin build up and absorption. It has also been shown to help improve feed utilisation by increasing the length of the villi in the small intestine. The clay is a good source of bioavailable silica which has an important role in the development of new bone helping in the calcification process.

Canine

Bentonite clay is commonly used within canine diets to help relieve digestive issues like constipation and bloating. The clay is a natural phosphate binder making it an ideal supporter against kidney disease in dogs. The excess phosphates and urea that the kidney's cannot clear can be aided by bentonite supplementation. The clays anti- bacterial properties can also help canines during exposure to toxins by its ability to attract and pull pathogens away from the gut.

Carp

Studies have shown that carp who are exposed to oxidative stress benefit when their diet is supplemented with clay to help reverse the oxidative damage to the liver and kidneys. Supplementing bentonite clay into carp diets has also shown to increase body protein levels.

Horses

Bentonite contains many beneficial minerals and nutrients, all of which can be used on horses internally and externally. The clays high absorption qualities make it an ideal supplement towards supporting digestive upset. This can help improving gut flora activity and increasing nutrient absorption. Externally, bentonite can be used to help lesions and cuts as well as helping to reduce swelling in horse's legs.

Pigs

Clays have been a standard ingredient in pig feed for several decades due to their high absorption properties. Bentonite has shown to alter microbial population in the gastrointestinal tract which can result in a greater gut microflora.

Poultry

Dietary bentonite in poultry has shown to improve egg production due to a decrease in feed processing rate in the digestive tract. The decline in processing time allows more time for key nutrient absorption. The clay has the ability to bind to pathogenic bacteria in the gut helping to improve gut health and increase digestive enzyme secretion.
